Two years after the Rama-Meloni pact for the Gjadri camp, protests erupt in

Albanian and international activists protested today in Tirana and in Gjadra, Lezha, regarding the two-year anniversary of the agreement between Albania and Italy for the construction of the migrant camp in Gjadra, Lezha.

The activists' banners read: " Meloni, Rama, Von der Leyen, Trump, your remigration prisons are criminal. Stop funding wars and deporting immigrants ."

Another large poster features portraits of leaders Donald Trump, Ursula von der Leyen, Edi Rama and Giorgia Meloni, dressed in police and military uniforms.

The Gjadri camp was built after a pact between the Albanian and Italian governments.

Initially, the Gjadri camp was conceived to temporarily house asylum seekers rescued at sea by Italian ships, for a period of up to 28 days.

But with the new decree of the Meloni government, "Gjadri" will also serve as a detention center for immigrants who no longer have the right to asylum and are expected to be deported to their countries of origin.
