After 17 days of strike, Bankers Petroleum employees decided to end their protest. During this period, 10 members of the union council went on an indefinite hunger strike at the offices of the hydrocarbon sector union in Marinza, where their condition worsened day by day until doctors suggested they call off the strike, while dozens of other employees joined the strike and boycotted work.
While the employees remained steadfast in their cause, demanding a salary increase, equal treatment and improved working conditions, the company continued to operate normally in the oilfield through subcontractors. For days, the employees sought the support of state institutions, while they considered the silence of the Albanian state to be irresponsible.
During the last two days of the strike, the protest moved in front of the Bankers Petroleum offices in Fier.
Yesterday, a representative of the strikers held a meeting with the Minister of Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj, where all the concerns of the employees were raised, while Minister Ibrahimaj pledged to treat all the oil workers' requests with priority and to play the role of mediator in finding an agreement between the parties. Meanwhile, the oil workers' protest will continue on November 5 in front of the company's offices in Fier.
