The Supreme Judicial Council (SCJC) has rejected Sali Berisha's claims regarding Judge Irena Gjoka (Maneku), who declared the decision binding on the former prime minister for the "Partizani" case.
Berisha's lawyers contested the judge's decision on the grounds of conflict of interest, as she is alleged to have been fired by Berisha in 1996.
But from the return of the answer, it appears that Sali Berisha himself dismissed and appointed Irena Gjoka within 6 months with two consecutive decisions.
In the response that the High Judicial Council has given to Berisha's lawyers regarding the history of the appointments of judge Irena Gjoka, it appears that: "On February 8, 1996, the KLD chaired by Berisha dismissed judge Irena Gjoka as incompetent, while 6 months later, on August 23, 1996, the KLD led by Berisha appointed Gjoka to Mallakastër"
“With decision no. 7, dated 09.02.1996 of the High Judicial Council, Mrs. Irena Maneku has been released from duty, due to the inability to perform the duty.
With decision no. 8 dated 23.08.1996 of the High Council of Justice, Mrs. Irena Maneku has been appointed a judge at the Mallakastër Court", it was said in the response of the HCJ.
