Journalist Elton Qyno and his lawyers gave a statement to the media today in front of the premises of the Special Prosecutor's Office.
Initially, the lawyers of the journalist announced that they will send the decision of the Court of First Instance to the Appeal, and call for the phones to be handed over. On the other hand, the defenders of Qynos emphasized that receiving information on the journalist's cell phone is an intimidation for the work of all journalists whose sources are removed.
"We were happy at that time. We are looking at the possibility of overturning this first instance decision. It is very serious and confidential sources are at risk, which if entered as evidence in the file will be a blow to the work of the journalist. Not only to Elton, but to all journalists, sources will be removed." said the lawyer.
Journalist Elton Qyno also took the floor and said that he is careful not to publish information about his phone. He urged that the Court of Appeal should read the appeal in accordance with the law, prioritizing the privacy of his family, not his work, which contained his seized phones.
"All the documents that I have published have been information that was in the leaked file. I have been summoned for a ban on the publication of acts and information, and there is a note in the statement that investigative secrets have been released. During the investigation, I was ultimately asked to leave my phones and sources of information. I contested all court decisions. The penetration of BKH at home, at the office and at SPAK was a pressure deployment. They have suspended my work activity, not letting me pursue any criminal case. The biggest fear is that they don't reveal any work secrets. They are family material."- concluded Qyno.
