Historian Paskal Milo, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, commenting on the idea of creating a sovereign state within the Albanian state, said that in the first place it only causes surprise, but in a broader plan, it is a movement with measured terms, not careful, not weighed and can bring Albania other concerns besides the ones it has.
" I don't think it's a sudden proposal. I can tell you that this idea has been discussed for at least 5 or 6 years and that there are relevant documents in the highest instances of the Albanian state ", said Milo.
He said that perhaps now is the time to make this idea public, adding that it has many unknowns.
" There is a letter of Baba Mondi, several years ago, addressed to the Speaker of the Assembly, Ilir Meta and the Prime Minister Edi Rama, where these issues are presented that we hear today. Diplomatic Mission status is even required, comparing it to the Order of Malta or the diplomatic status of the Vatican. The proposal has a geo-strategic component. We must also read it in relation to the international, without doubt that it has a geopolitical aspect ", said Milo in "News 24".
