The 2025 assassinations, journalist: Kristian Marku was ambushed, here's

Several assassinations have shaken order and security in the first two weeks of January. The most recent assassination was the execution of Kristian Marku, an event that occurred on the Fier-Vlora axis on the afternoon of January 14, 2025.

On January 12, 56-year-old Bujar Nasufi was also assassinated at the 'Palace of Arrows', who was shot dead in his vehicle by a person on a motorbike as he was entering the house.

Regarding these attacks, journalist Julian Kasapi provided more details, as he was invited this evening to 'Frontline' on Report TV with Marsela Karapanço.

He said that the police are investigating several leads regarding the assassination attempt at the 'Palace of Arrows' and are on the verge of solving it. Regarding the assassination attempt on Kristian Mark, the journalist said that the latter is more difficult to solve.

"In the case of Bujar Nasuf, who was shot by a person on a motorcycle, the police have said that we are dealing with property conflicts, but I think that the police will soon be able to do something. They have also focused on other investigation leads. But we are waiting for the police to make this official."

As for the case of Kristian Mark, I think it's more difficult because it has to do with a clash between tribes. The police suspect that Kristian Bardhi was ambushed. The police already have his cell phone. He was wanted and how is it possible that he was never stopped by the police.

In the murder of Bujar Nasuf, cameras captured some of the perpetrator's movements and the burning of the motorcycle, while there are no security cameras in Vlora, and the burning of the vehicle took place in an area where there are no cameras.

The type of motorcycle can be traced back to where it came from, but we will see in the future because from what I know, the police are very close to solving the case,' he said.

Regarding the perpetrators of the assassinations, Kasapi said that they choose the place where they carry out the assassination well and choose places where there are no cameras.

"We have suspects who have been involved in serious incidents and are still being sought. In Albania, where all incidents are not captured by cameras, they are well studied. There are police drones on the highway that issue fines, but there are no drones to spot those who commit murders. The police must make it possible to solve them," he said.

According to him, the perpetrators are using the same schemes; after killing the target, they leave the scene without being caught by the police and burn the vehicle.

He said that the number of murders is highest in January, as this month also sees the return of emigrants to Albania.

"The settling of scores occurs in January, when most of those in conflict with the law and other people return to Albania. Also, in the summer when most immigrants come for vacation. There are cases where after a crime occurs, the perpetrators leave unmolested and burn their vehicle, and the police find the burned vehicles and weapons without fingerprints," he said.

The journalist also revealed how much a person is paid in Albania to commit a murder.

"In conversations, we have seen that a former lawyer like Benghazi paid up to 30 to 40 thousand euros to cut off his wife's hands and feet, imagine how high the murders go, up to 1 million euros to kill a person," he said.
