After the justice reform, the United States of America has turned its attention to the prison system in our country.
The Director General of Prisons, Klevis Qose, has paid a visit to Washington, where he had a series of important meetings. He met with the head of ICITAP, as well as the director of the Intelligence and Investigations Division at the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.
“ I had the pleasure and privilege of visiting Washington DC, where we held several meetings of particular importance for the future of the prison system in Albania. The Director of ICITAP, Gregory Ducot, hosted us in a very productive meeting, where together with William Sage we discussed the achievements and challenges of the program being implemented in our system. We focused on new projects that aim to improve the security, rehabilitation and reintegration of convicts. During this visit, together with the Director of Correctional Intelligence at the DPB, Edlir Ajazi, we had the honor of meeting with Errol Etting, Executive Director of the Intelligence and Investigations Division at the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. This meeting was an opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss new approaches in the field of correctional intelligence ,” Qose writes on social networks.
The visit was part of a study program organized by ICITAP, which also included participation in the American Correctional Association Winter Conference in Orlando, Florida. According to him, this program, funded by ICITAP, is an excellent example of the support of the US Department of Justice and the US Department of State for the Albanian prison system.
" Topics discussed included security, rehabilitation programs, information technology, and modern management of correctional institutions. These experiences and ideas will help us build a more efficient and humane system ," Qose continued.
