Just one day after leaving Albania with a strong public reaction, where she denounced the slander and political speculation that accompanied her during her stay in Tirana, Lea Ypi appeared in Kosovo today. The next stop was Pristina, where the internationally renowned philosopher and academic seems noticeably calmer and happier.
In a Facebook post, Ypi thanked the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, her Kosovar friends and the Dukagjini bookstore for the reception. She appreciated the discussion about her book and the kind words from Prof. Aliu Aliu and the participants, closing the message with a “Goodbye this summer.” A completely different tone from the one used the day before for Albania.
" Thank you Albin, Kosovar friends and @dukagjinibookstore for the always warm welcome in Pristina, thank you Prof. Aliu Aliu and all the participants in the discussion for the appreciation of the book and the kind words! Goodbye this summer ," says Ypi.
The contrast is clear. In Tirana, Lea Ypi was involved in a whirlwind of political innuendo, was rumored as a name for a technical government or as a successor to Edi Rama, and reacted by firmly distancing herself from what she called “the mire of slander and conspiracies.” In Pristina, she talks about books, academic discussions, and a warm welcome.
The stop in Kosovo seems to have offered Ypi what he didn't find in Albania; a space of respect, without political noise and without labels.
