Journalist Sokol Bregu was invited to "Top Story" where he spoke about the serious case in Vlora, where 40-year-old Rinald Rakipaj is accused of having had sexual relations and inciting drug use against 3 teenage girls aged 15-16.
The journalist revealed more details about the case, stating that giving drugs is incitement to rape and a criminal offense punishable by 5 to 10 years in prison.
He then compared the issue to the case of the Roma couple, where the husband risks 25 years in prison for having sex with a minor, saying that in the Vlora case, he sees hesitation in pressing charges.
"It's what the Albanian police never do. This is inciting drug use. Incitement is punishable by 5-10 years in prison. According to the penal code, the legal age of maturity is 18, while the legal age is 14. If you offer drugs within this time, you are an inciter."
Prosecutors are having a hard time bringing charges of sexual violence. The Albanian prosecution is invested in the love story of two Roma and they want to sentence him to 25 years in prison. We know their minority. I see a great desire on the part of the prosecutor to convict him. In this case (in Vlora) I see hesitation in bringing charges. If a girl wants to go of her own free will, it is not a crime, from the age of 14-18.
You used the drug in a violent way. If she didn't buy the drug...the police in this case have been indifferent, I don't know why. The prosecutor, for his part, should have taken the three girls for a gynecological examination. They are sending a Roma boy to prison for 25 years and we are being gentle with a minor. This means we should save the other cases," he said.
