This was stated by former Foreign Minister Paskal Milo, invited to the "Terminal" studio on A2CNN.
" His characteristics as a liberal politician sometimes went beyond the limits that Albanian circumstances could allow. He was, in terms of culture, formation and character, beyond the modern liberal intellectual ," Milo emphasized.
According to him, Albanian politics has lost a model of healthy European politics. He recalled that he had worked closely with Fatos Nano when international intervention was great when Albania was going through difficult times.
" We definitely had to coordinate with the internationals and the Foreign Minister also served as a mediator. This gave me the chance at that time to have almost daily cooperation. He knew foreign policy, had a sense of smell and understood the other's position well. He did not bow down easily to foreigners and was not a "Yes man". He showed his conviction with authority with arguments and insisted on achieving the objectives he had set for himself. He did not always reach an understanding with foreigners, as foreigners at the time demanded that the Albanian government not be so independent in decision-making. Nano could not accept something like that and I was a witness when he boldly opposed international authorities, be they American ones , "said Milo.
