The Traffic Police are expected to launch a nationwide campaign against skateboards, or what are known as electric scooters, in a few days.
Road safety analyses, where these vehicles have proven problematic and a source of accidents and road incidents with consequences, have led to the start of work on drafting a plan of measures.
According to Euronews Albania sources, the analysis has shown that an overwhelming majority of these vehicles, which are not recognized as such in the Highway Code, are widely used by minors.
The alarming figures from the Trauma Hospital, where citizens injured by the use of these devices are presented every day, have prompted the State Police to draft a plan of measures to discipline them or remove them from circulation.
Many countries like France and Great Britain have imposed strict rules and high fines for this phenomenon.
