About 200 police officers with the ranks of "deputy commissioner", "commissioner" and "chief commissioner" have shown interest in the competition for 48 police stations across the country, which closed on November 8 with the first phase of applications.
Among them are 10 women, who are aiming for appointment, in a competition procedure for chief of the police station that takes place for the first time, after the legal changes in the law on the State Police.
The innovation in this competition is the commission that will evaluate the candidacies, which for the first time, also consists of 3 women. Within the legal deadlines, each candidature will pass through a separate filter, to be concluded with interviews and final selection, to receive appointment. It is learned that all the current chiefs of police stations, including chiefs of crime or order and security, and beyond have become part of the competition.
Meanwhile, in the State Police, the interviews for the 42 candidates in the race for district leaders were completed on Saturday, while the process will be completed by the end of next week at the latest, officially appointing 12 new leaders, who also come after a the race process that took place for the first time. Young leaders, who recently received their degrees, were also part of the competition, thus aiming to provide new figures to the district directorates. Based on the analysis that the selection committee will make for each winning candidacy, the special appointment will be made in certain districts. Appointments in districts considered "difficult", from Tirana, Shkodra, Durrësi, Vlora, Fieri, Lezha and Elbasani, where the level of criminality is at the highest levels, are expected with interest.
A few weeks ago, with the same competition procedure, the general director of the State Police, Ilir Proda, was appointed, who passed all the stages of the competition among other competitors. The competition in the State Police takes place for the first time. Earlier, appointments were made on the basis of analysis and names that were available. The new approach enables all ambitious people to aim for leadership roles.
