Allowing the cultivation of cannabis for medical purposes is in the final stages. As applications for the granting of licenses are expected to start next year, the government is completing the by-laws that will enable the implementation of the law "On the control of the cultivation and processing of the cannabis plant for medical and industrial purposes".
Recently, the socialist Mirela Pitushi has filed a bill in the Parliament, a legal initiative that aims to clarify some details.

After being supported by 61% of Albanians asked in the National Consultation, it approved the initiative in the middle of last year that enables the cultivation and processing of cannabis for medical and industrial purposes. According to the law, the license for the production and processing of cannabis will be valid for 15 years, in covered spaces or greenhouses for an area of 5 to 10 hectares.
The permit is approved by the Council of Ministers and the total area in the country planted with cannabis for medicinal purposes will not exceed 150 hectares. The conditions for granting and obtaining a license include having experience in this field, a capital of 100 million ALL, at least 15 employees and a self-declaration that after the third year of activity, the entity will pay an annual fee of 1 .5% of the annual turnover.
According to the document drawn up by the Ministry of Health and other line institutions, the cultivation and processing of cannabis for medical and industrial purposes will be monitored by a special agency./ A2CNN
