Leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta

The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has appealed to the Special Court of Appeals the decision given by the First Instance Court, which once again rejected his request to change the security measure "prison arrest" to a lighter measure.

It is learned that the appeal, filed against the January 5 decision of the GJKKO, was registered in the Special Appeal on January 26.

The former president's request for release from prison has been previously rejected by all three levels of the judiciary, which have decided to keep him in prison.

The leader of the PL has also addressed the Constitutional Court, claiming that the decisions of the three levels of the judiciary that have left the arrest measure in force are unconstitutional and violate the European Convention on Human Rights.

SPAK closed the investigation on July 28, and the file was sent for trial at the end of August. The investigation includes three cases combined into one file: the CEZ-DIA affair, the SMI lobbying in the US, and the property investigation.

Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi are accused of passive corruption, money laundering and failure to declare assets. Pirro Xhixho is accused of passive corruption of high-ranking officials, committed in collaboration, while Fatime Kryemadhi is accused of money laundering, together with Ema Çoku.

A security measure of "compulsory appearance" has been imposed on Monika Kryemadhi.
