The original tape of the dictaphone with the recordings of the Republican Guard communications, where the orders to kill protesters were given on January 21, 2011, has been submitted to the Special Prosecution Office by journalist Artan Hoxha.
It contains 36 minutes of recording, where conversations between former head of the guard Ndrea Prendi and his subordinates are heard before, during and after the killing of 4 protesters and the injury of dozens of others.
"The January 21 audio recording is an important piece of evidence. The investigators will have more accurate information," said former prosecutor Ervin Karanxha in an interview on "Ora e Fundit".
Also during the interview, the former prosecutor underlined that investigators will follow several more phases.
"The register will also be the subject of investigation, so if there is a register, it must be verified and confronted. It will be the expert report that will clarify what was communicated during this period. The event of January 21 was declared closed and what we discussed later happened. The first procedural error was at the beginning of the investigation, because statements should have been taken from senior officials. The Supreme Court says senior officials should be investigated, so procedural actions should have been taken, these should have been done 15 years ago. At that time, over 40 protesters were convicted. There were also police officers injured during the protest, but it was not possible to prove who hit the person. But there were also cases that were investigated. The Attorney General's Office investigated senior officials.
It turns out that former Minister Lulzim Basha went to Bamir Topi, influenced Ina Rama. This person should have been investigated himself. I think that former prosecutor Ina Rama should also be summoned by SPAK. The problem is the investigation of senior officials. There is no act... So how can a prosecutor general be a collaborator? The Secret Service provides data on prosecutors and judges. Even on January 21, we must ask why investigations were not initiated for senior officials as was done for opposition MPs at that time ," said Karanxha.
