Criminalistics expert Ervin Karamuço has provided details regarding the tear gas thrown at protesters on Saturday during the DP's national protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
Karamuço explained that pepper was not thrown into the water as has been speculated, as according to him it is not possible. He emphasizes that the water has multiplied the content of the thrown cocktails, which have created a cloud that has caused irritation and breathing problems for the protesters.
Regarding the expiration of the cocktails, he emphasized that the police buy them once every two years and that after the expiration, they use them for training and not against protesters.
"It happened that the water increased the effect of the gas. Absolutely not, it is forbidden, you can't throw pepper into the water. Those tankers are filled with water and are predisposed to give the water bombs that push the protesters. They don't have this methodology, there is 0 chance that this has happened."
When you throw water and it catches CSS content in the atmosphere, it immediately multiplies. The news that the journalist says multiplies on the skin. Even those who are not directly affected by the water experience increased intensity.
Now there's something there, the state police buy once every two years, they buy these canisters or grenades. It's a cocktail, the main ingredient is chlorine benzidine but there are also other chemical byproducts that make the famous cocktail. It's a chemical irritant, that's why it is. You feel difficulty breathing," he said on the "Now" show on Euronews Albania.
