The Criminal Court of Kosovo has lifted the security measures against Ajola Xoxa, the wife of the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, thus approving the request submitted by her.
Xoxa was under the security measure of “compulsory appearance” and “ban on leaving the country.” Xoxa requested an easing of the security measures, arguing that her health condition, due to her pregnancy, requires more flexible treatment, as well as the opportunity to move abroad.
Her request was accepted by a panel of judges composed of Engjëllushe Tahiri, presiding judge, and Elsa Ulli and Alma Kodraliu, members, who are trial judges in the trial against Erion Veliaj, etc.
In February 2025, security measures of "compulsory appearance" and "ban on leaving the country" were imposed on Xoxa. Xoxa is accused of passive corruption, money laundering, concealment of income and failure to declare, and the file has already been in trial on the merits since February 9 of this year.
The Mayor of Tirana has been under "prison arrest" since February 10, 2025, while SPAK has filed 13 charges against him, including passive corruption, money laundering, failure to declare assets, and abuse of office.
