The Special Court has imposed two security measures on Belinda Balluku, suspension of the exercise of her duties and functions as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, and a ban on leaving the country.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure has been charged with violating equality in public tenders. The investigation is related to the tender procedure for the construction of the Llogara tunnel.
Yesterday in the Parliament, the Deputy Prime Minister of Albania, Belinda Balluku, reacted to the accusations of opposition MPs, calling them politically motivated personal attacks after recent moves by SPAK.
Deputy Prime Minister Balluku, during her speech in the Assembly, commented on the accusations that SPAK has raised against her, while stating that she will never speak against justice even though she has been personally affected.
She pointed the finger at the opposition, as she was told that they operate with double standards, that when Sali Berisha is affected, they attack the SPKA, while when it comes to figures from the majority, they do the opposite.
During her speech in the Assembly, Balluku stated that the purpose of these attacks is to cover up, according to her, the failures and electoral losses of the Democratic Party over the past few years.
Addressing the DP deputies, the minister said that the accusations against her are directly related to her performance and results achieved in office.
"The opposition does not forgive successes. I understand why I am the subject of this personal attack, because you do not forgive political success to a working person, not even to those who stand out in your ranks. You do not forgive the eight losses in the last 12 years and through personal attacks on me you try to cover up your failure," Balluku said.
