The head of Nisma Thurje, Endri Shabani, has commented on the request of the security measure 'house arrest' for Sali Berisha.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, he emphasized that in this case Berisha should be in prison and not even meet his family members, stressing that the Court has been very tolerant towards him.
" The Code of Criminal Procedure determines who is the way of execution of this security measure. In this case, Berisha should have been in prison, where he would have neither access to the phone nor access to family members, but would only have the opportunity to go out for airing. The Court and Prosecution have been very tolerant with Berisha, so that he can show at home. There is a pretty big house. It has been quite tolerant with Berisha, compared to other political figures, who are currently in prison. It was a completely coherent decision by Berisha, it would not have ended with house arrest if he had appeared in court ," he said.
On the other hand, former MP Fatbardh Kadilli criticized Berisha, saying that he violated the law from the moment he disobeyed the Court.
" Berisha's disobedience to the Court's decision, in itself, violated the law. There is a legal process. Berisha has never left the democratic party ," he said.
