Two apartments in the same shelter were engulfed in flames yesterday morning in the village of Kukur in Gramshit. The incident happened around 16:00 yesterday.
The flames have burned both apartments.
The grandfather of two families, Zaim Meci, tells how he pulled his 8-year-old granddaughter out of the flames, who had just returned from school.
"I was with cattle near the apartment when I saw plumes of smoke and flames coming out of the roof of the house, I went there and saw people with buckets of water trying to put out the flames, the members of my family crying and screaming, it was a horror. Someone told me that there is a child inside, the cries of the granddaughter inside were not understood, I got wet with water and entered the flames with a cattle skin. I went to the room where my niece was crying, huddled under a bread table, I don't even know how I got out. I thank God that my granddaughter was saved," the hero grandfather told the media.
Further, in his very moving confession, the grandfather calls for help as the conditions they are in are too difficult to survive.
"Everything was burnt, we are left with only our clothes, we don't even have bread for the next meal. I would beg everyone to help us if they have the opportunity for body clothes, no matter what they are", he appeals.
According to preliminary information, it is suspected that there was an electric spark on the roof of the building, favored by the wind, which caused everything to be crushed in a few minutes.
