Greece has "put its head out" as far as the fight for Fredi Beleri is concerned. After his arrest there was a massive commitment from Athens, surpassing any kind of ethics and level of diplomacy. There were even threats and ultimatums. Many wondered why Greece was interested in a man like Fredi Beleri, who was once even investigated by them as being connected to crime. But the rabbit slept elsewhere, in the Census.
The "Pamphlet" a day ago in an article showed how Greece, after launching Censi, withdrew from the advocacy for Beleri. Yesterday the Greek Foreign Minister came to Tirana and he didn't say half a word about Beleri. Likewise, in Greece, it has been several weeks that there is no boiling in the mouth.
Today, it is the Greek media that admits that the great "war" has been fought for the Census. So Athens wanted Himara to be declared a minority area. The newspaper " Kathimerini ", which has always acted as Beler's lawyer, writes today that Censi in Albania has been manipulated.
" Against the background of the ongoing case of the imprisoned elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, which is casting a significant shadow over the relationship between the Greek minority in southern Albania - and by extension Athens - and the government led by Prime Minister Edi Rama , Albania is currently conducting a population census.
The already charged atmosphere has been further inflamed by accusations from the ethnic Greek organization Omonoia. They allege irregularities and manipulations in the registration process, intended to depict the declining Greek minority. The epicenter of this new conflict is again in the Himara region, where, according to Omonoia's statement, the census officials who faithfully perform their duties are being fired. Two such dismissals are suspected to have taken place in Himare, where an extremely high number of citizens of Greek origin was registered on the corresponding electronic platform" , the article reads.
According to Greek media, Omonia claims that Albanian authorities are questioning the veracity of statements made by ethnic Greeks in minority villages regarding their permanent residence in their ancestral homes.
" It turns out that in the areas where there is a Greek minority, the level does not exceed 15%. They are at the level of 14.8% in Himare and 12% in Konispol. While with 20% they would become a minority union. The law on minorities stipulates that municipalities with 20%, which belongs to the community, must have bilingual signs, bilingual schools, raise the Greek flag, next to the Albanian one. Beleri seems like a connected person to me. Because in the last 3 years he has had access to issue passports. This time, 62% more than the resident population came to Himara, which is twice the highest number of immigrants who came to vote and three times the average number of immigrants who came to vote. And this happens on the eve of the census, which is a battle to capture 20% ", said Ardit Bido a few days ago. / Pamphlet
