Residents of Theth have blocked the road to the main entrance bridge to the tourist village, while the action to demolish unauthorized constructions continues on the ground.
Following the order of Prime Minister Edi Rama, work continues to demolish illegal constructions in Theth.
Residents of Tethi have clashed with police, blocking the entrance bridge to the village.
They demand a halt to the action and to talk to the government. Police and the director of the Shkodra Local Police, Fatmir Lleshaj, are present at the scene.
IKMT and the police have planned to initially demolish around 40 illegally built buildings, in an action that will last several days.
One of the residents, who has invested in his land, says with tears in his eyes that he has spent all of his life's expenses on investments.
The resident states that he has built 5 wooden houses on his inherited land for many years and, as he adds, there is not a single inch of concrete.
"All living expenses. I built 5 wooden houses without concrete and nothing on my land. We asked but they say there is no permit, the land is mine, it is inherited from generation to generation. We ask the state not to destroy it because we are on a major road. Unless I die, I don't know what my family will live on. We intend for the state to leave us to live. They themselves said to invest, I am not a newcomer but I am here. The land is ours for 200 years. As they said, we have invested, there is not a single inch of concrete," says the resident.
Their protest comes after IKMT will demolish 40 buildings throughout the village, 5 of which were demolished the day before.
On Monday, 12 more cabins placed without a permit were removed in the heart of Thethir, after Prime Minister Edi Rama denounced them as being in violation of the law and that the Shkodra prosecution had not launched an investigation.
Rama called the construction of these unauthorized cabins a literal massacre.
