The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, has reacted to the serious incident in Durrës, where the girl killed and buried her father in the backyard.
From Korça, Balla stated that the battle with family crime cannot be won only with the commitment of the police, but of the whole society, including the media.
"The year 2023 has been a year with serious incidents of crime within the family and also an increased number of domestic violence, this and because the police have tried to identify all the cases that we have had reports of. This battle is not a battle that only the State Police can win. The State Police is there to make the first intervention and naturally to bring the violator to justice, but this is something that I think we should make an appeal to our entire society. The fight against sexual violence, gender-based violence is not something that takes place for two weeks when all the associations of this country gather to raise awareness. I think that this should be done every day and you, the media, have a special merit as you have and a great responsibility to sensitize and make the society as united as possible against this unacceptable phenomenon", said the minister.
