The weekend will be very hot.
Forecaster Lajda Porja announced that the thermometer on Saturday and Sunday will mark 42 degrees in the shade.
In addition to high temperatures, Saharan ash will also be present, which will make the heat feel even more.
"Today we will be at temperatures of 38-39 degrees. There will be values of 40 degrees in Tirana, Fieri, 41 degrees in Elbasan and 41 degrees in Gjirokastër. While the rest of the territory fluctuates between 37-39 degrees.
As for the coastline, it is a little cooler. From Velipoja to Saranda and Ksamil, the thermometer will mark 37-39 degrees, while in the mountainous areas, temperatures will be in the north east. Kukësi and Hasi will have temperatures of 38-39 degrees and a little cooler, if we can call it that, will be the southeast area, the Korca district, where temperatures will be recorded at 36 degrees Celsius.
The drop we expect today at noon will increase tomorrow. Saturday will mark 42 degrees again and it is predicted that Sunday will not change.
The district of Gjirokastra and Berat will see temperatures of 42 degrees this weekend. The weather is expected to be clear, but Saharan ash will be present and the sky will not look clear. There will be light and passing clouds. The minimum values have increased significantly, where the mornings are very hot", said Porja.
She added that for several days the African heat wave has covered the Balkans and Albania, even though today has brought a very slight drop, I would say insensible 0.5-1 degrees in the entire Albanian territory, as Thursday marked the temperature quite high, 42 degrees maximum in the territory range. There were even high temperatures in Koplik, Shkodër. Very high temperatures were recorded yesterday in the district of Elbasan, Berat and Gjirokastra.
