Murders in the family, suicides, and the serious events that have happened recently in Albania or in the countries of the region but with Albanian protagonists, was the topic of this Monday that was discussed in "Quo Vadis" moderated by Pranvera Borakaj in Vizion Plus.
Journalist Sokol Bregu was invited to study while commenting on the event of a few weeks ago in Greece, where a 50-year-old Albanian killed his brother-in-law after learning that he had abused his daughter, calling it a "just murder".
According to him, for the first time the entire public opinion supported the perpetrator of the crime and not the victim.
Excerpts from the conversation:
Pranvera Borakaj: The event in Greece, the justice left him under house arrest, the decision of the Court in Greece was awaited with great enthusiasm, how did you read this event?
Bregu: I had my last show about this murder, and I called it just murder. When all public opinion is of the same opinion, even a single person does not have the right to take someone's life, justice in Greece also received an impact from all public opinion, in Albania it never happens. We have had several cases and all have been punished the same.
Pranvera Borakaj: Even when the murder was committed by the girls?
Bregu: Even for the girl who was killed by the man who was massacred all his life. Kadare sent letters to Nishan to ask for amnesty for that girl. Even public opinion was all with the girl, but the punishment was severe. Regarding the murder in Greece, I have brought a case in the USA when the father caught the daughter's abuser in the act and killed him. There he was not convicted, as the jury is citizens. Don't forget that he is Albanian, and this is the first Albanian crime to receive such great support. The way the lawyer presented it all the time, it was like this, the police did not accept it as an accusation, the girl was under tension, it was verified by the social educators that she had been systematically raped. What does a father do, he is obliged in such a case. Justice in Albania categorically punishes self-judgments.
