Journalist Klodiana Lala has provided details of the Supreme Court's decision regarding Ilir Meta, who remained in prison again.
Invited to the show "The Unexposed", Lala said that the hearing at the Supreme Court was held behind closed doors and Meta's appeal was not accepted, the reasoning has not yet been clarified.
" It was a closed-door session, with the presence of three judges. The former President claimed that the security measure of arrest with prison should be lifted, arguing that the arrest was illegal and banditry, secondly, there is no possibility of evidence destruction and witness intimidation, and he says that he would not escape justice since he has always appeared before SPAK. The last argument has to do with the electoral campaign, he says that he is deprived of political activity. These were Meta's main arguments.
The prosecution claims that due to Mr. Meta's behavior, the statements he has made and the fact that many testimonies have not been taken, it is alleged that the conditions exist for him to remain in prison. The court has not accepted Mr. Meta's appeal, but the arguments to justify the decision have not yet been clarified. The parties were not present, neither the prosecutors nor Mr. Meta. The examination was conducted on the basis of documents. Mr. Meta must go to the Criminal Court to go to Strasbourg , "said Lala.
