Journalist Lindita Çela has reacted to the statement of Monika Kryemadhi, who accused the journalist of having received her article regarding the CEZ-DIA file, now part of SPAK's investigations, from Lulzim Basha.
Today, the journalist has publicly responded to Kryemadhi's statements, describing them as an attack on her professional integrity and as an attempt to create a public perception of the former LSI leader's innocence in the face of corruption charges.
Journalist Lindita Çela's reaction:
I have never followed Monika Kryemadhi publicly. Not when she talked about the standard that surrounded her on Sundays with champagne and parties with giant tents where she treated guests to kadaif with cream and shrimp, Deschants wine and Cuban cigars of the "Cohiba" type; not when she talks about politics, because no matter how hard I try with all my limited knowledge, I can hardly find a case of her as a member of the Parliament of my country, as Party Leader, having taken an initiative that did not at least serve a minority; but not even now when she appears as an analyst, whether on a reality show or even about her own troubles with justice.
This is for the sole reason that I want to have the little time I have left, from working long hours, with me.
So I wouldn't have even had any idea about Ms. Kryemadhi's next appearance, if the phone hadn't rang that morning, where the few friends who surround me were surprised by her statements regarding my name.
I wouldn't care if the same statements weren't repeated in her television appearances, where sometimes as an analyst, sometimes as a defendant, and sometimes as a victim, she includes my name in efforts to create a different narrative on the charges brought by the Special Prosecution Office regarding her and her ex-husband.
"The history of CEZ-DIA began through an article written by Lindita Çela, which she received from Lulzim Basha ," said Kryemadhi for the umpteenth time on Monday evening on Ylli Rakipi's show.
Although Mrs. Kryemadhi received a response once regarding this article, when at that time her husband in his capacity as Speaker of the Parliament declared that "the article was published by the irresponsible journalist, improving her standard of living", given by the media where I worked at the time ( find the link here ), 11 years later the lady returns to the issue again, insulting my professional integrity to build a narrative on the public about how "innocent" she is of the accusations related to corruption.
In these 11 years, many things have happened, Ms. Kryemadhi! Most of all for you, who are now on the other side of the fence, where more than the public, you have to convince the court of your "innocence."
As for me, I continue to have the same standard of living.
A house with a few square meters purchased on credit after more than 20 years of work where every penny is hard-earned, but also richly rewarded, precisely for the sake of my professional responsibility.
Today, I, Lindita Çela, run one of the few completely independent media outlets in the country, called "shteg.org", where even the court hearings of your case at the GJKKO are covered with professionalism.
With my work, reporting not only on corruption, but also on the connections of organized crime in our politics that has been holding the country hostage for 36 years, I have gained the trust of people who want the media in Albania not to be dictated to by X politician or X mayor.
In my work, I have never been ordered around, Ms. Kryemadhi, and this is the purpose why “shteg.org” was created as well.
There are dozens of international reports on how politics has usurped the media in the country, and what is the role of your fellow travelers, and you don't have this problem with me.
This is my response to what you stated, Ms. Kryemadhi.
This is my truth.
As for your truths, I know that we have a very long way to go, even due to the fact of the votes on justice reform, where processes like the ones you are facing, take at least 10 years to have a final decision.
