New details emerge from the mysterious disappearance of Eglant Koç, a case that is being intensively investigated by the authorities and where his friend, Armand Shakaj, is at the center of suspicion.
Journalist Ervin Leka said that the initial suspicions of the investigative group were heightened after Shakaj's contradictory statements about Koç's movements and condition.
According to him, Shakaj had claimed that Eglant Koçi had returned from Dubai in a serious psychological state. However, verifications conducted by the police and information received from family members showed that Koçi had not traveled to Dubai at all.
Another element that has caught the attention of investigators is related to subsequent contacts between the police and Shakaj. The latter had stated that he could not appear at the police station as he was receiving medical treatment at the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center. But when the officers went to check on him, he was not found at the hospital premises.
According to Leka, the police are increasingly convinced that the case may be related to a criminal event and that there are suspicions about the physical elimination of Eglant Koç.
The investigation also revealed that relations between Koç and Shakaj had deteriorated recently. According to preliminary data, on the evening of June 4, Shakaj had called Koç for an explanation. Security cameras captured the latter entering Shakaj's business premises, but not leaving them.
Authorities are continuing their investigations to fully uncover the incident, while there is still no official version of Eglant Koç's fate.
"The police are convinced by the evidence that we may be dealing with a criminal event and his physical elimination. Recently, relations between Eglant Koçi and Armand Shakaj had deteriorated and it was the evening of June 4 when Armand Shakaj called his friend for an explanation. Eglant Koçi was seen entering his business, but was never seen leaving. There were several alibis put forward by Shakaj that did not convince the investigative group after questioning.
There was a moment when he was questioned. While the police were convinced, after Shakaj created an alibi by saying that he had not had constant contact with Koçi and that after a trip to Dubai, he had returned in serious psychological conditions. But when the family members were asked, it was revealed that Eglant Koçi had not traveled to Dubai and this is where the police became suspicious.
"They contacted Armand Shakaj and he said he was not feeling well and could not appear at the police station, as he was receiving a serum at the QSUT. But when the police went there, he was not found and since then he has been missing ," the journalist told "A2 CNN".
