Journalist Artan Hoxha, discussing the dramatic fall of the euro and the reasons that produced this situation, listed the laundering of criminal money as the main factor.
Invited to the show "The Unexposed", Hoxha said that the euro conversion figures in our country, which within eight years have increased from 5 billion euros to 12 billion euros, is related to the expansion of drug trafficking.
Hoxha said that the biggest concern of the traffickers is finding the sectors where they will launder the money, where mainly in our country is construction.
"There is a very interesting data in the currency exchange table in euros. In 2010 there was the Berisha government, it is 5.5 billion euros. Until 2020, when Covid starts, it is 6.3 billion euros. So it has only moved by 800 million euros. In 2023 has reached 12 billion euros.
The EU's richest market for drug trafficking has increased its purchasing power 2.5 times. During this time, in addition to the episodes we publish, in all the international reports, organized crime has significantly increased the weight in the cocaine traffic, becoming a point of reference, starting from the source, taking control of the final market, distribution in the EU . They are a series of data, they may be coincidences, but they match the reality on the ground.
We have had a problem with big companies. The problem of drug trafficking is where the money will go, they try not to have it stored. One of the people extradited from the Emirates, it is suspected that his wealth had reached one billion dollars! Therefore, it was insisted that this person return to Europe.
They try to find channels through those in power. A good part of the money was camouflaged as investment within the companies. We talk about towers, that's where the money comes from. They need a name, preferably with a long history, they find the financing themselves. Therefore, today what we see with our eyes does not match what we hear with our ears. That is why we are facing these numbers.
The country today is in a situation where if you look at the numbers, it turns out that there is economic growth, but wages do not increase, production does not increase. What do we produce? Where does the money come from in this country? The biggest official beneficiaries are the banks that have increased their profits, the oligarchs that control imports, because we only consume and produce nothing. The question is, in such a limited number of hands that we have left the economy, how long will we keep it that way? In five years, from half a million euros payment for murder, up to five million euros. These are scary numbers ," said Hoxha.
