"Did you write about the Peshkëpi massacre?", Artan Hoxha talks

Journalist Artan Hoxha said that he had a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Elisa Spiropali, who had just been informed of the "non grata" measure by the Greek authorities at the Kakavija border crossing point.

Hoxha said that among the questions at the border was whether he had written about the Peshkëpi massacre.

" I only had one phone call with the Foreign Minister, whom I informed the first time this happened to me. She told me that I had set up a team, which is dealing with this issue. They have not given an answer to the Embassy in Athens, as the Minister told me. On the other hand, she told me that this is an issue that the Greek authorities have had a problematic position on in the past. However, I asked that the Republic of Albania show minimal integrity and a country that aspires to join the EU ," Hoxha revealed on A2 CNN.

" I didn't expect it, but I wasn't surprised by what they did. I went to Ioannina on Sunday, mainly for medicine because my father is sick in the hospital. The border officer told me: I see here in the system that we have a problem. You have to go to the second line because I won't give you the passport, you have to go there to get the passport. In a moment, I turned to him, I told him what it is about? I haven't had any problems in Greece. Second, I'm a journalist, I told him, and as a rule you have to tell me what it is. Go, he said, to the second line and there they should provide further clarifications. I was surprised, I went to the second line. There was another officer there, who first asked some questions about the generalities. This is not rare because in Albania with the name and surname Artan Hoxha there are 186 people and I learned this when I went for the first time to get a visa at the American embassy, because they count us well, and he asked about generals, for the father, for the mother, then what do you do. Then, he asked: did you make up this story? Starting from the Peshkëpi massacre, then there were the exhumations of Kosina, those of the Greek soldiers, so the cemeteries of the Greek soldiers, to the recent events with Katsifas and these with Beleri. He only asked questions and since these are public, it has happened in other countries as well, because Greece is not the first country to stop you. Let's keep in mind that there is also a kind of lottery at the border, in every 10 people one passes to the second line " , Hoxha continued.

The journalist further explained that Greece's declaration of him as persona non grata is a decision with a political dimension and does not come from the fact that he may have committed legal violations in Greek territory, but from the fact that he has defended Albania in certain situations, such as the maritime border debate.

" The dimension is political. What the Greek authorities are doing to me is not simply to the citizen Artan Hoxha, I am a nobody, but it is doing it as a clear message to colleagues and others after me, that if you dare to hinder our interests, that is, the interests of Greece in the territory of Albania, the consequences will fall on you. And I am a man who has been penalized not because there is a criminal case against me in Greece, but I have been penalized for the positions I have held in favor of my country, the symbols of my country, my fellow citizens. So I have defended Albania, I have not violated Greece. I have been taken within Albanian territory, even though the issues I have defended, including the maritime border, are very sensitive issues but are on concrete materials ", declared Hoxha.
