Dritan Dajti, who executed officers Kastriot Feskaj, Altin Dizdari, Sajmir Duçkollari and Fatos Xhani, on August 7, 2009, in Durrës, during an operation for his arrest, has requested to be released from his cell this Friday.
Dajti claims that he has already served his sentence of 25 years in prison, while the Supreme Court has decided to sentence Dritan Dajti to life imprisonment for the murder of 4 police officers in 2009 in Durrës.
Journalist Lavdrim Lita said in an interview for Euronews Albania that the decision of the Supreme Court, as the last level of judgment, is enforceable and should not be questioned.
Lita said that if the director of the Peqin prison takes as a basis the demands of Dajti's lawyers, contrary to the court's decision, then it would be better "for him to prepare a cell and put himself in it".
" All prisoners want to get out, especially those who have been sentenced to life imprisonment, such as Dajti for the murder of 4 senior officers in Durrës in 2009. These days there has been a confusing campaign due to lawyers in the media with requests for release, I think that everything is very clear, that the decision of the Supreme Court is enforceable and all institutions under the Ministry of Justice have been informed. If the director of the Peqin prison is going to think of the lawyer, he should put himself in the cell and never come out. The lawyers support the requests in the law, but we have court decisions such as the Supreme Court, which is the last level, and that decision must be implemented, and if the prison director violates the Supreme Court's decision, he must open himself a the cell and get inside himself ," said Lita.
