SPAK's request for Balluk, DP does not share Pelesh: Convenes the
Council on Mandates and Immunities

The Democratic Party does not give up its request to convene the Council of Immunities and Mandates to review SPAK's request regarding the security measure for Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.

The Democrats are asking Niko Pelesh, the Socialist Speaker of the Assembly, to call a meeting of the Council on Tuesday.

At the end of 2025, Democrats requested a meeting of the Council on Immunities and Mandates several times, while there is still no date for when this meeting could take place.

The Council has only met once, where members have received the evidence and facts that SPAK has deposited in the Assembly, which is the basis for the request to tighten the security measures against the Deputy Prime Minister.

On the other hand, the Constitutional Court is expected to review the merits of the GJKKO decision on January 22, which suspended Belinda Balluku from government functions, while SPAK has communicated the charges to the Deputy Prime Minister. The Constitutional Court initially decided to "freeze" the GJKKO decision and then opened the way for the trial of the case, which the Prime Minister considers unprecedented and unconstitutional.

Rama has stated that one power cannot interfere with another power, much less take on powers that do not belong to it.
