Lawyers absent, hearing at the GJKKO for Erion Veliaj postponed

The next hearing at the Criminal Court against the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, and other persons included in the SPAK file, will be held on January 19.

The hearing scheduled to take place today at the GJKKO has been postponed due to the absence of two legal defenders, including the lawyer assigned to defend Veliaj. Through an email, the lawyer requested the postponement of the hearing, arguing that she was abroad.

Mayor Erion Veliaj was not present at today's session.

The GJKKO has been holding preliminary hearings for several weeks. SPAK has filed corruption charges against Mayor Veliaj, who was arrested in February 2025 in his office.
