The serious defect in the main pipeline, which left the city of Vlora without drinking water for five days in a row, has put law enforcement institutions in motion after the New Year holidays.
The event, which affected thousands of families, businesses and public institutions, is considered unacceptable for a tourist city and urban center like Vlora.
According to official information, the Police have initiated the first procedural actions, seizing footage from the security cameras of a private entity near the area where the defect occurred.
The footage will be referred to the Prosecution Office, with the aim of accurately documenting the moment and circumstances of the event.
Sources from the Police and the Prosecution Office for journalist Greta Haskaj indicate that the case is expected to be officially registered for investigation.
The focus will not only be on the technical cause of the damage, but also on the way the water supply network is managed and the institutional responsibilities for its maintenance.
The investigations will aim to determine whether the defect was a result of pipeline depreciation, lack of investment, negligence in maintenance or other factors that may have directly influenced this situation.
The five-day water supply interruption has brought strong reactions from citizens, who have faced serious difficulties in their daily lives.
Authorities are expected to shed light on the real causes of the defect and determine who is specifically responsible for this situation.
