The second week of January has started with rain across the country. Anira Gjoni from the Institute of Geosciences said that the rains will continue until Thursday. The most affected regions will be Shkodra and Vlora in particular.
"In the Shkodër, Kukës, Vlorë and Gjirokastër regions, we will have intense rainfall, which will consequently cause flooding of small mountain rivers and landslides. In the rest of the regions, rainfall will be average. From the 5th to the 8th, we are expected to have increased flows in the Mat, Drin, Buna and Vjosa rivers," said Gjoni.
During these three days, temperatures are forecasted to be:
In coastal areas 13/17 degrees Celsius;
In lower areas 12/16 degrees Celsius;
In mountainous areas 6/9 degrees Celsius.
As for Thursday, we will have a drop in temperatures by 5 degrees Celsius in both minimum and maximum values. In mountainous areas, minimum temperatures will go down to -4 degrees, said Gjoni, emphasizing that as a result of these temperatures, snowfall and frost are expected again in the north.
