The court hearing against the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, in the Special Court has been postponed.
The lawyer of the former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Genc Gjokutaj said that the court has imposed a condition on the payment for receiving the documents of the file, stressing that "they want to drag out the process".
Gjokutaj said that they need the file documents and that they cannot be denied.
"The session started! We had at our disposal two months of SPAK investigation information, for which we have stated, after we have seen it, This information is based on a documentary basis that we do not have. The colleague has come to the Court and they have imposed a condition that the acts be received against payment. This is not a problem of desire not to pay, but it is a problem of the standard because according to the law, court costs at the end of the trial, have the practice of Beqaj who gave the acts.
We have them indispensable and they cannot be denied to us. Why was the court wrong? The crawling path does what SPAK says, they want to keep this issue," he said.
Gjokutaj said that the next session will take place on July 19, adding that the file has 12 bundles.
"The session was postponed until the 19th so that we can receive the documents. This decided that the acts must be obtained with payment. We didn't talk about the financial level there, we discussed the problem that these acts face us. In the end the problem of court costs is solved, but they are opening new schools now to create artificial obstacles to the process because they have no problem making photocopies and in the end the problem of court costs is solved. It should be 12 bundles, so they say. Political processes have the highest yield, because papers are printed without links", added Berisha's lawyer.
Meanwhile, another request by Berisha for the exclusion of judges Ilir Panda, Sokol Binaj, Sandër Simoni from the trial of criminal case no. 61007-00370-00-2024, which belongs to the appeal against decision no. 85, dated 17.04.2024 of the Special Court of Appeal Against Corruption and Organized Crime".
