Turkish company Intekar Yapi & ASL won the 2020 tender for the Llogara tunnel in Albania for 172 million euros. The company's decision to hand over the construction works to the Gjoka company for 140 million euros sparked controversy over a payment of 32 million euros. The opposition filed a criminal complaint with SPAK against the Minister of Infrastructure Belinda Balluku.
The events surrounding the tender for the Llogora Tunnel, which is located approximately 20 km from Vlora in southern Albania, have caused a new political crisis in the country.
According to the Albanian newspaper Politiko, the Albanian company Gjoka Konstruksion won the tender held in December 2020 with a bid of 140 million euros, but the tender was canceled.
Six months later, the tender was reopened, this time with the Turkish companies Intekâr Yapı & ASL ?n?aat winning for 172 million euros.
