The National Food Authority (AKU) has blocked over 4,000 kilograms of dairy products at a dairy in the Fier region, after finding several violations during an official inspection. An administrative fine of 250,000 lek has also been imposed on the entity.

According to preliminary information, during the inspection it was found that the entity was operating in the absence of a food product traceability system, had not implemented a self-control system (HACCP) and was marketing products without labels.

As a result, the authorities imposed a blockade on a significant amount of products deemed unsafe for consumption. Specifically, 1,400 kg of butter cream, 2,415 kg of mozzarella, 90 kg of fresh cow's butter, 100 kg of cottage cheese and 18 kg of mozzarella in buckets were blocked. According to the AKU, these products will be destroyed.

"The National Food Authority (AKU), in line with transparency and public information and in accordance with the legislation in force, announces that within the framework of the controls exercised, the General Directorate of AKU, through the Food Monitoring and Investigation Sector, referring to the received indicia, has carried out an official control in a subject with the activity 'Dairy/Milk Processing' in the Fier district.

During the official control, the inspection body found that the entity was operating in the absence of a food product traceability system, did not implement the self-control system (HACCP), and traded products without labels. For these violations, a blocking measure was imposed on a quantity of unsafe products.

We inform you that for the violations found, an administrative measure of 'Fine' in the amount of 250,000 lek has been taken against the subject, while the unsafe products have been blocked for destruction.

"The AKU guarantees consumers that it will continue rigorous controls to protect public health and encourages citizens to contact the institution in any case they find a violation of food safety, at the official email [email protected], as well as at the toll-free number 08007575," the AKU announcement states.
