Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari reacted after the Democratic Party protest in Tirana, praising the State Police for their intervention during the clashes with the protesters.
In a public statement, Lamallari praised the response of the officers, emphasizing the professionalism and self-restraint shown in the field.
" Congratulations to the State Police for the professional response, self-restraint and immediate neutralization of the Molotov cocktails used as cannon fodder to burn the city, desecrate the country and endanger the lives of uniformed officers ," the minister said.
He also accused the protest organizers of using minors and of attempting, according to him, to destabilize the country.
" Albania will not be held hostage by a minority that does not hesitate to use minors to burn and hide its failure ," declared Lamallri.
The minister further emphasized that citizens, according to him, have already made the choice between stability and escalation of violence.
" Between those who build the country's European future and those who seek to burn it, the choice is now clear to all Albanians ," he concluded.
