Lawyer Kujtim Ibraj commented on Operation "Bridge", where significant amounts of cocaine and money were seized, while 28 people received security measures.
Ibraj said that, unlike internationally known mafias, there are no structured criminal groups with a hierarchy in Albania.
" We don't have structured criminal groups in Albania. The mafia is a structured criminal group, it has a hierarchy. In Albania there is no hierarchy at all. It's all social ties and blood ties, almost more blood ties, nephews, uncles, cousins, and they are horizontal, they are not vertical."
Here they refuse to have commanders like the Italian, Chinese, Russian mafias have, everyone is a commander for themselves. Abroad, like in Italy, they implement the hierarchy better. Bosses in Italy sit in offices with air conditioning and suits and others work below. These people in Albania don't have that, everyone works here, " adds Ibraj.
He also emphasized that unlike the directors of criminal organizations in Western countries, who are usually well-educated, the leaders of organized crime groups in Albania have low levels of education.
" Even the educational level of these people is vulnerable. The leaders of criminal organizations in Western countries are well-educated ," Ibraj said on Euronews Albania.
