
Italian associations that protect the rights of immigrants have reacted to the agreement between Albania and Italy for the reception of 36 thousand immigrants. The international organization of the Italian branch, UNHCR, has stated that they are not involved in this agreement and that they are seeking information from the authorities.
While the center "Astalli", one of the most important shelters for immigrants in Italy, has reacted saying that the agreement violates the rights of asylum seekers.
"We are not involved in this agreement. We are seeking information from the authorities. The agreement must respect the Convention of 1951, on the right to protection of immigrants" , writes the world organization UNHCR of the Italian branch.
