The State Police announces an online fraud scheme that uses the name and visual identity of the institution to illegally obtain money.
Unidentified perpetrators have created fake websites that mimic the official website of the State Police. They distribute these pages through SMS messages and disguised email addresses, presenting them as official notifications for payment of road traffic fines, mainly for speeding.
Police say these messages are not sent by state institutions. The perpetrators use fraud techniques to direct citizens to fake websites, where they ask them to enter bank details. After receiving this data, they intend to withdraw funds from the victims' accounts.
The institution urges citizens to avoid clicking on suspicious links received via SMS or other platforms and not to enter bank details on unverified pages. Verification of fines should be done only through official channels, specifically on the e-Albania portal.
The police also provide instructions for cases where citizens have fallen victim to fraud. They should immediately contact the bank to block the card or account and report the case to law enforcement.
The State Police announces that it has begun work to identify and prosecute the perpetrators of this scheme.
