The fourth day of mobilization was accompanied by tensions, clashes with the police, and a march towards the Prime Minister's Office.
After more than three and a half hours of rallying and marching in the center of Tirana, the fourth protest against the tourist project in Zvërnec has ended. Citizens and activists who participated in the rally have warned that the mobilization will continue tomorrow, confirming that opposition to the project will not stop.
Today's protest began in Skanderbeg Square and was accompanied by tensions from the early hours. In the area of the Ura e Lana Bridge, the police had placed metal fences and numerous security forces, arguing that the measures were taken as part of the security plan for the friendly match between Albania and Israel.
This led to clashes with protesters, who viewed the blockade as an attempt to prevent the march to the Prime Minister's Office. For several minutes, the situation became tense, as police vehicles approached the area, spraying water.
However, under pressure from the crowd, the police withdrew from the security perimeter, opened the metal fences and allowed the march to continue towards the Prime Minister's Office. The withdrawal of the security forces was greeted with cheers by the protesters, who considered this a victory for their protest.
During the rally in front of the Prime Minister's Office, numerous citizens delivered speeches against the project in Zvërnec and against the government, while demanding the cancellation of the investment, which they say violates one of the most important natural areas in the country.
The protest ended peacefully in the evening, after more than three and a half hours in the center of the capital. Organizers and participants announced that they will return again tomorrow, continuing the mobilization against the tourist project in Zvërnec.
