A funny and typical "clickbait" news story circulated yesterday on several Albanian portals and networks, claiming that there was an intimate video with "group sexual content" that would "sink" Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.
The source? An article originally published by an Austrian media outlet called Exxtra24.at, which spread like wildfire through several local media outlets. The article spoke of rumors from Albanian “whistleblowers,” with no concrete evidence, unverified authenticity, and lots of “according to anonymous sources” and “suspected.”
The result? Within a few hours, Exxtra24.at deleted the article completely from their site. Why? Because in Austria the laws for defamation, unverified news and attacks on public figures are not like here, where any rumor can be sold as “exclusive news” without serious consequences.
