The collapse in the area known as "Arrat e Gurres" has blocked the national axis Librazhd-Përrenjas since Saturday, isolating the southeast of the country. The Albanian Road Authority (ARRSH) has not yet given an exact deadline for the complete stabilization of the situation.

The Director of Strategic Planning and Operations at the ARA, Indrit Koleci, stated that technical studies are currently ongoing in the field and for this reason a concrete deadline for the completion of the intervention cannot be determined.

"We can't say a deadline yet, we have surveyed the entire lower river area. We have surveyed the riverbed, we will also do a review of the new road structure that we will build, to be safe. We are also continuing the studies for the upper part for the extent of the landslide."

We cannot tell you the deadlines because they are considerable volumes, we cannot rush and say something and then withdraw. As a prediction, we can have the deadline within 3-4 days, we will be able to say that the works will be finished in that time. We will continue with the measures we have taken so far. ARA has given its alternatives, this road does not meet safety standards", said Koleci.

Although this is a national axis of particular importance, due to its connection to border points and high vehicle traffic, the ARA has not yet provided a concrete solution for citizens. This situation has affected thousands of residents, businesses, drivers and travelers who use this road segment every day.

The blockade of the axis has had direct consequences on the economy. The situation is being reflected in the increase in transport ticket prices, the increase in costs for imported products and a general impact on the market. Also, tourism operators report a decrease in the flow of visitors to the southeastern area.

On the other hand, the head of the Albanian Road Safety Agency, Ami Kozeli, announced that the alternative Spathari road has been inspected, but it does not meet safety criteria.

"The Spathari road was inspected on Sunday by our experts and this axis is 15.1 km long and does not offer road safety and is an axis that we will not consider investing in.

"Since yesterday evening, the contractor has begun implementing the decisions of the Technical Council and three of them, specifically the covering of the river bed, the demolition of the bridge that occurred this morning, and the easing of the landslide mass on the upper side, this to bring the escarpment towards its natural balance," said Kozeli.

Meanwhile, the situation on the ground remains problematic and requires an immediate solution, in one of the most important axes of national infrastructure.
