SPAK, through a statement to the media today, March 9, announces that the deputy director of the National Bureau of Investigation has been elected and he is Mentor Cuku.
According to the announcement, Cuku was selected through a competitive and transparent process.
The Special Structure states that Mentor Cuku is an investigator of the National Bureau of Investigation and possesses long and consolidated professional experience in investigating criminal offenses of corruption, organized crime and serious crimes.
Throughout his career, he has been distinguished for his high professional integrity, leadership skills, and continued dedication.
11 candidates applied for this position, who met the legal and professional criteria set for this function. All candidates were characterized by a high level of professional preparation, experience in the field of investigation and outstanding leadership skills, which made the selection process particularly challenging.
Mentor Çuku is the brother of the murdered commissioner, Artan Cuku.
"Following a competitive and transparent process for the selection of the Deputy Director of the National Bureau of Investigation (BKH), the Director of the BKH has appointed Mr. Mentor Çuku to this position.
This appointment was made pursuant to point 3 of Article 36 of Law No. 95/2016, “On the Organization and Functioning of Institutions to Combat Corruption and Organized Crime”, as amended, according to which the Deputy Director is appointed by the Director of the National Bureau of Investigation, with the consent of the Director of the Special Prosecution, after conducting an open and transparent selection process. The mandate of the Deputy Director is 4 years, with the right to re-election only once.
