An investigation by Fiks Fare documented a case where a gynecologist recommended the use of medication to terminate a 13-week pregnancy, even though termination of pregnancy beyond the 12th week is not permitted for abortion at the woman's request.
The show's collaborators initially inquired at Polyclinic No. 7 in Lapraka, where they sought information on the possibility of performing an abortion. During their communications, they were directed to a private clinic run by a gynecologist who had been retired for about a year.
In a telephone conversation, the doctor stated that the legislation allows termination of pregnancy up to the 12th week. Subsequently, the associates also turned to another gynecologist, who confirmed that the procedure could only be performed within the limits set by the law. According to him, exceeding the legal deadline made it impossible to perform the intervention under the normal conditions provided for abortion at the woman's request.
However, the situation took a different turn when Fiksi's associates showed up at the private clinic and declared that the pregnancy had reached the 13th week. According to the footage provided by Fiksi, the doctor did not consider this fact as an obstacle and suggested the use of the drug Cytotec to induce an abortion.
During the meeting, she also explained the method of using the medication, giving instructions for taking it. She then wrote down the name of the medication on a prescription, but refused to put her signature and professional seal on the document. According to the investigation, the doctor asked her colleagues to obtain the medication themselves and use it according to the suggested scheme.
Refusal to sign and stamp the prescription, while at the same time providing instructions for the use of the medication, raises questions about professional responsibility and respect for the procedures that should be followed in such cases.
