Today, a preliminary hearing against former President Ilir Meta is taking place at the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime.
Meta himself is present at this session, as his lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani, announced before entering the courtroom.
"Meta is in the courtroom today, you have him present. Today the confrontation with Rama's regime begins. For January 21, it is at a different moment," said the lawyer.
A hearing is taking place today at the High Court where his appeal against the prison sentence is being reviewed.
The case against former President Meta also includes his ex-wife and three other people. They face charges related to passive corruption, money laundering, failure to declare assets, and corruption of high-ranking officials in collaboration.
Meta has been in prison since October 2024, while Monika Kryemadhi is under "compulsory appearance" measure.
