Ilir Meta will continue to remain in prison, based on the decision of the Appeals Court of Kosovo, which rejected the request of the President of the PL, not accepting the guarantee of 50 thousand euros offered by his lawyer.
The Appeals Court decision was made by Judge Saida Dollani. Meta has been in custody since October 2024, when he was arrested by order of SPAK, while investigations have been conducted against him for several issues, including lobbying in the US and the Cez/Dia file. The file against Meta and his ex-wife, Monika Kryemadhi, has been submitted for trial at the Court of Appeals.
" Today, on 04.05.2026, the Court of Appeal announced the decision on criminal case no. 120, act, date 22.04.2026 registration, on the appeal of the appellant Ilir Meta: "appeal against decision no. 242, date 24.03.2026 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, with the object: replacing the personal security measure of prison arrest with another measure: house arrest, property guarantee, obligation to report to the judicial police, or prohibition of leaving the country" and decided:
Dismissal of the appeal filed by the defendant Ilir Meta, through the defense attorney Kujtim Cakrani, against disposition no. 242, dated 24.03.2026 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime.
This decision shall be notified to the parties. This decision may be appealed to the High Court. Tirana, on 04.05.2026 ”, states the official notice of the Appeal of the GJKKO.
