The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted to the serious incident in Durrës where two minors lost their lives after being hit by Nikollë Rradaçi, who was driving while intoxicated.
Another child was also injured in the accident.
Berisha says the author is "a monster" and is known as the SP's darling.
"A true tragedy! Friends, 58-year-old Radaçi took the lives of two boys in Durrës with a car, one 10 and the other 13 years old, and severely injured the third 8 years old and ran away like a monster. He left them in the clutches of death. No help was given to him. The author is known as a darling of the crime party, problematic for the neighborhood but immune and untouchable. Words are not enough to express the pain and deepest condolences to the families of the victim angels. I pray to God that their souls become light and that the parents find the strength to cope with this serious tragedy, and I wish the little boy in the hospital a speedy recovery. And the murderers of the children and his defenders the most severe punishment," Berisha wrote in his reaction.
The driver of the vehicle, who was speeding and drunk, fled the scene on foot after the accident, but was later arrested by police.
Residents of the area say he was always driving at high speed. Radaç himself admitted to investigators that he had consumed alcohol before the accident.
Police say that an alcohol test showed that the 57-year-old was driving while intoxicated. Initial investigations suggest that the cause of the accident was loss of control of the vehicle as a result of driving while intoxicated.
Also, verifications of the driver's history show that this citizen has previously been punished for violating road traffic rules, specifically for wrongful overtaking, in 2020, and for speeding, twice, with a 1-month suspension of his driving license, in 2022.
He is charged with the criminal offenses of "Violation of traffic rules", resulting in the death of two people, "Driving a vehicle in an irregular manner" (while intoxicated) and "Leaving the scene of an accident".
